An epic of the Zhurbin family of shipbuilders, spanning several generations.
Review :
excellent classic from the Iron curtain
Communist were sure inconsistent about their Ideology. At least in the movies. One movie focused on two wealthy farmers who are in love with each other but have an issue against each other. Another, the characters are successful, upper middle class. surgeon, farmer, architect. The same .here. with this movie. A family of a successful cruise shipping building business. We see the whole family getting together for Sunday dinner , from the father who co runs the business with his father , which is the grand father, who shows up from fishing. The mother sitting at the dinner table with her sister and her husbands and her older son , younger blond daughter, her younger son, The wife of the older son, either the fathers brother or her , the wife's brother, who always hangs around the father. It seems that the younger son is having a date with a girl he like and falls in love. But she not in love with him or she's not too sure. She ends up falling for an older man and he get's her pregnant. The wife of the older son is having problems with their marriage and she thinking of leaving. She eventually does.Either the fathers son in law of his older blonde daughter or the son of the father is inventing an automatic way of cutting wood. He later makes a demonstration of it. But whether he succeeds or not I had trouble in understanding it.Eventually the younger sons brings his ex girl friend back to live with the family when the older man leaves her and she had a child from him. This would of made a good television series in our country too.But this was made at the time our country were producing films in advance techniques. Cinemascope and stereo. The soviet Union was behind this and so was Europe at that time. Russia film industry was just of adding more color filmed movies to the industry to make up for the lack of them up until 1946
