Not A Bad Movie, But It's Flawed.

An American patrol was sent during World War II to the south of China which was occupied by Japanese troops with the order to rescue a prisoner of the Chinese guerrilla. China Venture is directed by Don Siegel, and it stars Edmond O'Brien. And although this movie is a good movie, it's got many flaws in it. For example, the acting could have been better. Edmond O'Brien was great, but the rest of the cast could have done a much better job, and some of the script seemed forced and some of the lines were even laughable. All in all, it's a good movie, but it could have been so much better, it had potential, but it could have been better.

I won't hold it against directed Don Siegel, as he would later go on to direct a some classic movies like the original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, Dirty Harry, and The Shootist. You know what they say, if at first you don't succeed. Try, try again. And Siegel did try again, and he certainly was able to redeem himself when he directed great movies like the ones that I just mentioned. A few good things is the cinematography, the cinematography is great and the scenery is beautiful. It's good that they shot this all on location in the jungle rather than use a cheep Hollywood set. But other than the location, the cinematography, and some of the acting, the movie isn't really that good.

So on a scale from one to ten, with one being the absolute worst and ten being the absolute best, I'll give China Venture a rating of six stars out of ten, meaning that while this movie isn't a bad movie, it could have been soooo much better. Don't get me wrong, this isn't one of the worst movies that I have ever seen, I would never consider it to be as bad as that, but on the whole, the movie had so much going for it, and it could have been so much better. Watch this movie if you please, as it is a good movie, but while it isn't a bad movie, it's got some flaws in it. But hey, you can't expect every movie that is made to be a masterpiece.
